Some patriot commentators quote this case, State v. Balance, 229 N.C. 764, 51 S.E.2d 731 (1949), which defines “law of the land” as due process of law. There is a difference between procedural due process and substantive due process and knowing the difference is vital. Look up the difference in Black’s 5th Edition.
